It’s Me

Something always brings me back to you
It never takes too long
No matter what I say or do
I still feel you here ’til the moment I’m gone

Just called my ex-husband. It really hit me as I said, “It’s Melanie”. Not “It’s Mel”. Or “It’s me”. Because if you are someone’s person you can just say “It’s me” and they know. Even without the call display. But now I have to introduce myself. “Hi, I am your son’s mom. We have to work together on school things. You might remember me from that time we lived together for 25 years.”

So even when you think you are past the grieving some new experience reminds you of what you lost.
